In the U.S. 56% of buyers choose Android smartphone

According to research conducted by Nielsen last August, 43 percent of all smartphone owners have a device based on Android. Among those who have purchased a new smartphone in the last three months, 56% chose a device based on Google's operating system. The preferences of these "buyers" are very important because they often anticipate market trends.

Apple iPhone OS remains in second place with 28 percent of all smartphone owners, and with the same percentage among all those who have recently purchased a new device. But these figures may well change in the coming months. Every time Apple launches a new iPhone there is a substantial increase in sales.

Market share aside, 56 percent of all those who bought a new mobile phone over the past three months chose one smartphone. In the coming months, the Christmas holidays and the launch of the new iPhone and new devices based on Android could further accelerate the purchase of smart phones instead of the classic "phone features".
