Nokia cut prices of its smartphones

Nokia in an attempt to slow the decline in its market share, reduced prices of its smartphones. As reported by Reuters, The Finnish company would have reduced by about 15% and the price of the "flagship" Nokia N8 than that of Nokia C7 and Nokia E6. Small price reductions there have been for other models.
A Nokia spokesman declined to comment on the news stating that it is a normal market transaction. "It's business as usual" he said simply.
Carolina Milanese an analyst at Gartner, said the price cut was planned by Nokia for more aggressiveness on market. "They should pay the old but also propose new products at a price more aggressively, said the Milanese.
According to Gartner, Nokia's market share fell to 25% in the first quarter of 2011 versus 39% for the same period last year. Many analysts predict that market share is destined to fall further during 2011.
